Bowl for the Cure: USBC Convention
The 2022 USBC Convention took place at The Orleans in Las Vegas from April 25-28. Bowl for the Cure hosted our annual Survivor Luncheon and Meet for the Cure presentation. We enjoyed the opportunity to meet and honor those battling breast cancer in our community as bringing awareness to the cause is our highest priority.
During the Meet for the Cure presentation, Lauren Schaefer, Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships with Susan G. Komen, spoke about our partnership as well as the advances your donation dollars are making. Komen is at the forefront of cutting-edge research and programs such as the Susan G. Komen Metastatic Breast Cancer Collaborative Research initiative and the Stand for H.E.R – a Health Equity Revolution initiative. We would like to thank all those who donated during Convention as we raised over $2,000 with your support. We also would like to congratulate Steve Bailey who won the BFTC Enter to Win Giveaway. He received a BFTC bowling pin signed by the PWBA Tour players!

We have made strides in breast cancer treatment with the five-year survival rate being at 90%, but we still have a long way to go. The five-year survival rate for Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) is only 29%.
Susan G. Komen has created a new initiative, Metastatic Breast Cancer Collaborative Research Initiative, to research breakthrough discoveries to end MBC. Researchers from the Duke Cancer Institute and the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center are collaborating together to explore new treatments in the hope of changing MBC from a terminal disease to a chronic one.
